PURPOSE:A resin which is excellent in balance among various properties, appear ance and moldability and has high coating performance, comprising a propylene/ ethylene copolymer having an ethylene content, a MFR, a room-temperature xylene-soluble portion and a MW distribution of this portion which fall within specified ranges. CONSTITUTION:A propylene/ethylene copolymer resin having an ethylene content of 1-30wt%, a MFR >=0.1g/10min, a room-temperature xylene-soluble portion of 1-30wt% and such a MW distribution of this portion that the value of integral from the lowest MW to a MW of 1X10<4> is 6wt%, the value of integral to a MW of 1X10<4.5>>=8wt% and the value of integral to a MW of 1X10<5>>=25wt%. In this production of this copolymer, a usual stereoregular polymerization catalyst, which is exemplified by a combination of a transition metal halide, especially a titanium halide with an organoaluminum compound can be used. This copolymer can be used in aplication fields where high coating performances are necessary, as in fields of industrial parts such as automobile parts and parts of office automation appliances, especially bumpers, fenders, personal computers, and VTR.
