PURPOSE:To prevent chattering form being generated, by interposing a spring, which presses a tappet to a push rod, between a spring receiving part, provided in the tappet cooperatively acting with a fuel injection cam, and a spring receiving part provided in a tappet guide. CONSTITUTION:An engine vertically actuates a push rod 32 through a tappet 31 by rotation of a fuel injection cam 30 interlocking to a crankshaft so as to swivel a rocker arm and operate a plunger of a unit injector not shown in the drawing, and the engine forms the tappet 31, from its peripheral surface upper part to the bottom end, into a stage-shaped small contour to mold a spring receiving part 37. While the tappet 31 is slidably and internally fitted to a tappet guide 38, and the tappet guide 38, forming its upper half part into a stepup-shaped large contour, forms a spring receiving part 39 in the stepped up part. And the engine, interposing a compression spring 40 in the both spring receiving parts 37, 39 presses the tappet 31 to a side of the push rod 32.
