PURPOSE:To provide a printing apparatus not generating non-emission and not wastefully consuming ink, constituted by mounting a control means for preparatorily emitting ink in the number of times corresponding to a different condition of atmospheric temp. or an elapse time. CONSTITUTION:In a desk calculator having an ink jet printer PR, a comparator VC compares reference voltage E with the divided voltage between a variable resistor VR and a thermistor TM and outputs the comparing result TS. For example, if atmospheric temp. is 10 deg.C or more, '0' is outputted and, if 10 deg.C or less, '1' is outputted. An operational processing part CPU inputs the aforementioned signal TS to control the heat generating elements TH1-THn of the thermal head of the ink jet printer PR and, if a power source is closed at atmospheric temp. of 10 deg.C or less, ink is preparatorily emitted 256 times while 64 times at atmospheric temp. of 10 deg.C or more. When there is no key operation for 15min or more, preparatory emission is performed 34 times at atmospheric temp. of 10 deg.C or less while 8 times at atmospheric temp. of 10 deg.C or more. |
