PURPOSE:To protect a housing and to make a stable manual subscan and to make a normal readout scan by providing a protection cover which covers the whole holed bottom surface of a device when the device is not used. CONSTITUTION:The protection cover 10 has a projection 10a which engages the engagement hole 11a of the housing 11. The projection 10a slides in contact with the flank of the housing 11 and then engages the engagement hole 11a to protect the bottom surface 11b of the housing, a readout scanning opening 11c, and a guide roller 12. When the projection 10a slide in contact with the flank of the housing 11, the flank of the protection cover 10 having the projection 10a deforms outward elastically and engages the hole 11a with elastic deforming force when reaching the engagement hole 11a, thereby fixing the protection cover 10 to the housing 11. The engagement hole 11a and projection 10a are provided to opposite side walls. The protection cover 10 is constituted freely attachably to and detachably from the housing 11.
