PURPOSE:To enable a device to perform easy positioning, by using the device, equipped with a centering member for performing centering work and a positioning member for aligning the phase of a tooth, for two machining gears of a machining tool correcting a tooth surface utilizing gear engagement contact. CONSTITUTION:A device, mounting a machining gear 26 to a bolt 57 and fitting a center rest 48 to a column body 47 to be fitted to the gear 26, tightens a bolt 56, and a gear 27 is fitted to the center rest 48 and placed on the gear 26. Next the device, placing tooth thickness gages 68, 69 approaching the gears 26, 27 while moving the both gears to be displaced, performs positioning by engaging engaging pawls 80, 81 with a helical gear to align a phase. After completion, positioning members64, 54 are left as fixed, and a retainer 60 is placed and fixed by a bolt 61. Next the device, forming a knock pinmounting hole after the both gears are engaged by a bolt 31, drives a knock pin 30 to fix the gears. As a result, the device, obtaining a machining tool paired into one set, can assemble the tool into a gear correcting unit by removing the tool.
