gamma -INTERFERON COMPOSITION

Human gamma -interferon composition which contains substantially no inorganic salts and which is frozen or lyophilized in the presence of an amino acid. A substantially inorganic salt-free aqueous solution of human gamma -interferon can be prepared by using an inorganic salt-free buffer solution as a buffer solution in the final chromatographic procedure or by removing inorganic salts from a purified aqueous solution. When the solution is frozen or lyophilized after adding thereto an amino acid, the activity of gamma -interferon is scarcely reduced during the procedure, and the resulting composition has good storage stability and, since no turbidity is produced upon re-dissolution, it can be advantageously used as antiviral agent, antineoplastic agent, etc.
