In a dryer for photographic recording media in the form of sheets, particularly instant photographs, the housing of which accommodates a hot air fan, there is provided for the purpose of rapid and uniform drying a carrier plate (4) for the instant photographs which is arranged horizontally in the housing (1), over which a cover (2) extends at a distance, and over which a flow of dry air can pass from one end face over the entire width, which flow is produced by a warm air fan (12) arranged below the carrier plate (4) and is directed via deflecting means (19) and distributor elements (6) onto the upper side of the carrier plate (4). Moreover, air inflow (10) and air outflow (11) openings for the flow of fan air are constructed one above another in one end face of the housing (1) and separated from one another by the carrier plate (4). <IMAGE>
