PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for baffle plate support rods and support beams liable to generate disturbance in airflow and enable a fluorescent lamp to be easily replaced, by a construction wherein baffle plate supports provided with flanges are provided on side faces of baffle plates to increase the bending strength of the baffle plates themselves. CONSTITUTION:A side face on the opposite side of the baffle plate 5 is placed on the flange 2 of the baffle plate support 11 fixed to the adjacent baffle plate 5. As a result, the plate 5 is reinforced by the support 11 on both side faces thereof, so that plate 5 is not bent downward under its own weight. Accordingly, since the baffle plate 5 is provided with a sufficient bending strength, baffle plate support rods 9 and support beams 10 can be removed, thereby shortening the spacing between a filter 4 and the plate 5 and reducing the height of an upper part of an outer casing 1, and a reduction in the size of the air cleaner can be contrived.
