A process for the production of mineral wool products comprising moulding a mixture of materials having a composition like that of mineral wool, including waste materials from the production of mineral wool, together with binder and water to form briquettes and introducing the briquettes thus formed into a melting furnace and converting them into a melt which is spun to form mineral wool and preparing from the mineral wool mineral wool products of a desired shape and size, and optionally recycling waste material formed to the melting furnace characterized in using briquettes which based on dry matter contain at least 20% by weight of waste materials from mineral wool production and at least 35% by weight of a binder in the form of clay of the following composition : SiO2 : 50 - 70% by weight Al2 O3 : 10 - 20 - Fe2 O3 : 2 - 7 - CaO : 5 - 30 - MgO : 1 - 4 - Na2 O + K2 O : 1 - 8 -
