PURPOSE:To make a loading process for paint cans, etc., into automation, by installing a working holding mechanism, a horizontal shifting mechanism and a lifting mechanism all in a device loading the paint cans and the like on a pallet, while loading works on the pallet in an orderly manner with combined operations in these mechanisms. CONSTITUTION:A pallet loading device is provided with a pallet feeding part 1, a mounting member 17 mounting a pallet P, a taking-in mechanism taking in a loaded work W, a holding mechanism 26 capable of holding and releasing the work W, a horizontal shifting mechanism 35 moving this holding mechanism 26 in a reciprocative horizontal direction orthogonal with a taking-in direction of the work W at an upper part of the mounting member 17 and a lifting mechanism 22 making this mounting member 11 go up and down. In addition, there is provided with a taking-out mechanism 44 taking out the pallet P on the mounting member 17 sidewise. Moreover, the holding mechanism 26 is constituted of an upper holding member 30 holding the top of the work W and a side holding member 31 holding the side of the work W, and it is designed so as to operate both these holding members 30 and 31 selectively according to forms of the work W.
