Bisazo compounds useful as charge generating pigments in electrophotography

Bisazo compounds represented by the general formula <IMAGE> wherein R represents a halogen selected from the group consisting of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine, and when R is fluorine, it is at the ortho, para or meta position in each phenylcarbamoyl group; when R is chlorine, it is at the ortho position; when R is bromine, it is positioned at the ortho or meta position; and when R is iodine, it is at the meta position, which bisazo compounds are particularly suitable for use in the charge generating layer of a layered electrophotographic photoconductor.
