PURPOSE:To carry out simultaneously electrostatic coating and to reduce the cost by electrically connecting the main body of a metallic automobile body and the parts of a plastic automobile body with a freely detachable jig and electrostatically coating the carrosserie and the plastic automobile body part in one step. CONSTITUTION:When a plastic automobile body part is electrostatically coated while the part is attached to a metallic automobile body, the metallic carrosserie B is undercoated, the plastic automobile body part R is attached to the automobile body and the automobile body B is electrically connected to the automobile body part R with a jig 30. Then the automobile body B and the plastic automobile body part R are electrostatically coated in one step while a part of the jig 30 is exposed on the surface of the carrosserie B When the part R is then earthed to the automobile body B by the jig 30, a paint is deposited on the boundary part between the part B and the jig 30 and electrostatic coating can be successively carried out. Accordingly, a high-quality coated surface can be obtained at low cost.
