PURPOSE:To prevent the abnormal electric discharge due to a dust layer accumulated on a dust collection plate in an air purifier performing the corona discharge by making the dust collection electrode a water retention electrode and making the surface of this electrode wet. CONSTITUTION:The dust collection electrodes 1 consist of the electrodes which are made of a sintered material of Al body and have the water retention characteristics and the counter electrodes 2 are manufactured of a simple substance of Al plate. The ionizing wires 3 made of W or the like are erected nearly on the extension lines of each counter electrodes 2. When the corona discharge is caused between the ionizing wires 3 and the dust collection electrodes 1, the dust is collected on the dust collection electrodes 1. In this case, even when the amount of dust to be collected is increased and it is made to a layer-shape, the dust layer is made wet by the water retention characteristics of the dust collection electrodes 1 and is not made to the insulation. Therefore the electrostatic charge is not caused in this dust layer and the generation of the abnormal electric charge can be prevented.
