PURPOSE:To enlarge damping capability by making short the contact length of a bearing ring with a rolling element to facilitate the relative motion between the rolling element and raceway surface. CONSTITUTION:The thickness of an oil film, roughness of a raceway surface of a bearing ring, and roughness of a rolling surface of a rolling element are selected in such a manner that the ratio of thickness of the oil film of lubricat ing oil formed between the bearing ring and the rolling element to composite roughness calculated from the roughness of the raceway surface of the bearing ring and the roughness of the rolling surface of the rolling element is 0.5-2. The contact length of the raceway surface of the bearing ring with the rolling surface of the rolling element is decreased. Accordingly, if moment load by external force of vibration is imposed upon a bearing, the relative motion be tween the rolling element and the bearing ring is easily produced to enlarge the capability of absorbing vibration energy.
