PURPOSE:To adjust tracking utilizing auditory sense by controlling amplitude and frequency of sound signals for display in audible band based on reproduction output corresponding to the state of tracking in VTR etc. CONSTITUTION:A noise component outside of audible band obtained from an HPF 18 is frequency divided by a frequency dividing circuit 20 and frequency converted and converted to a signal component in audible band. The gain of a voltage controlling amplifier 22 changes according to a noise level of output of the HPF. For instance, it is controlled to make the gain larger when the noise level becomes larger. When a changeover switch 23 is selecting tracking side (a), the noise component which is frequency converted and made audible, is outputted from a loudspeaker 27. When the tracking volume is adjusted to make the noise component from the loudspeaker minimum, the best state of tracking is obtained.
