PURPOSE:To provide the titled electrode which has a low overvoltage and has good current efficiency by arranging many electrode made of metallic plates into diagonal, parallel and diamond-shapes at specified intervals to vertical electrodes made of metallic wires to a horizontal row in tight contact therewith. CONSTITUTION:The electrodes 1 made of the metallic wires sized at about 15-20 mesh are installed on both sides of a diaphragm 3 in tight contact therewith. Several sheets - several tens sheets of the metallic plate electrodes 2 made to a suitable rectangular shape having about 0.5-1.0mm thickness are arrayed and mounted to such electrodes 1 in the diagonal, parallel and diamond shapes in tight contact therewith at the specified suitable intervals into the horizontal row. Metallic fittings 4 are further mounted to the outside thereof, by which the electrode for a water electrolyzer for high-temp. and high pressure is obtd. Such electrode is charged into the electrolyte in the electrolyzer and DC current is impressed thereon. Oxygen is then generated on the anode and hydrogen on the cathode, respectively. The bubbles thereof rise in the spaces of the electrodes 2 in the direction opposite from the diaphragm 3 and are emitted to the outside. The water is thus electrolyzed with high electrolytic efficiency. |
