PURPOSE:To prevent the deformation of a thin metallic coil and to obtain a treated coil of high quality by successively bringing the coil to be treated into close contact with cylindrical rolls to transfer s heat when the coil is continuously annealed or hardened. CONSTITUTION:A metallic coil of <=about 0.15mm thickness is uncoiled and conveyed in an annealing furnace 1 in the direction of arrows through cylindrical rolls 4for heating and cylindrical rolls 5 for cooling. At this time, the rolls, 4, 5 are rotated, the outer tubes 7 of the rolls 4 are uniformly heated to the annealing temp. with heaters 8, and the outer tubes 14 of the rolls 5 are uniformly cooled by injecting cold water into the rolls 5. The metallic coil is successively brought into close contact with the surfaces of the heated and cooled rolls and the rolls are rotated so as to enable conveyance under small tension, so the deformation of the coil due to tension and thermal deformation is prevented. Thus, the entire coil is uniformly annealed or hardened. |
