PURPOSE:To translate necessary information selectively by inputting the condition of a document to be selected as an object of translation and judging whether or not a document in a text satisfies the condition by utilizing the analytic processing of a dictionary used for the translation and the document. CONSTITUTION:The condition of the document to be translated (e.g. condition of a text title 'Title regards machine translation', condition of the document 'The document includes a numeral', etc.) is inputted on a keyboard 5. A processor 1 reads the title and document in the text out of a text memory 2 successively. Then, the processor 1 analyzes the document and title by utilizing the dictionary memory 3 of a translation system and document analytic processing to check whether they satisfies the condition stored in a condition table 41 or not. The text in the text memory 2 is all checked and then the document in a document storage table 42 is translated and displayed on a display monitor 6.
