PURPOSE:To obtain formed sulfur having excellent dispersibility and useful as a rubber compounding ingredient, by adding specific amounts of stearic acid and a process oil for rubber to powdery sulfur, mixing and homogenizing under heating, and cooling after forming. CONSTITUTION:Powdery sulfur is added with 5-30wt% stearic acid and 0-20wt% process oil for rubber, based on the whole composition. The mixture is stirred and homogenized under heating, formed, and cooled to obtain the objective formed sulfur. The process oil for rubber is naphthenic oil, paraffinic oil or aromatic oil or their arbitrary mixture. The heating temperature is above the melting point of stearic acid and below 90 deg.C. A formed sulfur having high fluidity and excellent dispersibility can be produced by this process.
