PURPOSE:To enable the diagnosing of deterioration in the insulation of a hot-line cable by leading a lead of a capacitor electrode out of a connection box after buried into a reinforcing insulator to connect a detection impedance between the lead and the ground. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate connection 13 of a cable composing a cable line is made up of a connection sleeve 2 connected to a pair of cable conductors 1, a pair of cable insulation layers 3, a reinforcing insulator 4, a shielding layer 5 and a connection box 6. The capacitor electrode 7 is buried into the insulator 4 in parallel with the shielding layer 5 and a lead 8 is connected to the electrode 7 to be led out of the connection box 6 through drilled holes 9 and 10. A detection impedance Z is connected between the tip 11 of the lead 8 and the ground, namely, a ground terminal 12 composing the connection box 6. Therefore, as a partial discharge signal generated at a defect 14 of the connection 13 appears at the detection impedance Z, this fine partial discharge signal is amplified and observed thereby the diagnosing of deterioration in the insulation of the cable line under a hot-line condition is enabled.
