The drive unit has intermittent combustion and at least two round discs (2a, 2b) which are installed rotating and concentric to a driven shaft (3) in a housing (1). Each disc (2a, 2b) includes at least one partial combustion chamber (5a, 5b). The partial combustion chambers (5a, 5b) open on the front of the discs and during the rotation of the discs they should be so positioned in relation to one another that a complete combustion chamber (5) is formed which extends over all the discs. Into the partial combustion chambers (5a, 5b) the design provides for a reversal of the combustion gases which is opposite in neighboring discs. The discs are coupled with the driven shaft (3) in such a way that neighboring discs rotate in opposite directions depending on the reversal in the partial combustion chambers, but operate in the same direction on the driven shaft (3). In this way, it is possible to achieve a compact drive unit with a high degree of smoothness in running together with low wear. |
