PURPOSE:To attain print with high quality and many gradations with simple constitution by allowing plural heaters to be heated with a prescribed interval mutually and controlling the heat depending on the density to be printed. CONSTITUTION:Plural heaters 1-1-1-n are read sequentially from a video RAM12 by the control of a video RAM control circuit 13, a color selection circuit 14 converts R, G, B signals into Y, M, C, a density detection section 14a selects density information and recording color information to be heated corresponding to a color section of a heat sensing ink ribbon is fed to a heat region control section 7 by the control of a color section control circuit 15. The density information 20 from the detection section 14a is fed to a temperature control section 16. A heater switching section 17 outputs an ODD signal 18 as the recording operation of the 1st column and a heat head drive section 7a applies heating to heaters at the odd number order from the left end of the thermal head 2 according to the heat information outputted from the temperature control section 16 based on the density information 20. Succeedingly, the heaters of the even number order are heated to be the heat corresponding to the density information 20 similarly by an EVEN signal 19 as the recording operation of the 2nd column.
