<p>The appts. includes a milking parlour, a milking machine and at least one computer. The milking cluster (18) is provided with one or more sensors (33) which determine whether or not the cluster is correctly attached to teats of an udder. The milking operation is switched on only if it is determined that the milking cluster is correctly attached, and attachment repeated if correct attachment fails. A sensor (16) is also proVided to determine whether the animal is in the appropriate position in the milking parlour, the automatic milking operation being discontinued if it is determined that the animal is not in the correct position. An arrangement (2,3,12,27) may also be provided for correcting the posture or positioning of the animal.</p> |
