PURPOSE:To enable uniform illumination by laminating a clad layer, a core layer having higher refractive index than the clad layer, another clad layer and a diffusing layer successively, and further, providing plural deficient parts between the core layer and another clad layer. CONSTITUTION:Convergent light incident from the incident face 7b of the core layer 7 into the layer is totally reflected in the layer and propagated. The light arrived at the deficient part 7a of the core layer 7 passes through the upper clad layer 8, and after diffused by the light diffusing layer 9, passes through a protecting layer 10 and radiated upward and irradiates the polarizer 11e of a liquid crystal panel 11. The light that passes through the panel 11 is partially rotated optically by voltage impressed to an electrode 11c and not rotated partially. The light not rotated optically is emitted from a transparent glass layer 11b through an analyzer 11f, and projects outer periphery of figures formed by a liquid crystal 11d or figures themselves on the analyzer 11f uniformly. |
