The invention relates to a cord-untwisting apparatus with a supporting body which is rotatable about a supporting-body axis and in which there is a deflecting device for the cord, over which the cord runs with multiple deflection. In a known untwisting apparatus, the cord is deflected in a serpentine manner, so that it can be subjected to untwisting forces in the deflection region in order to untwist it. However, the untwisting effect is not satisfactory under all operating conditions. The mechanical load for the cord is inappropriately high. This is avoided, according to the invention, in that only one roller performs the cord deflection through 360 DEG or, if at least two rollers are used, their two axes form an acute angle with one another, and in that the cord is deflected through approximately 180 DEG on each roller. Although a gentle mechanical load for the cord is obtained thereby, this cord can be untwisted more effectively.
