PURPOSE:To increase light output power by forming, on the outer surface of a light-emitting tube, a conductive thin layer transmitting visible rays, and a layer protecting the former layer and reflecting heat rays. CONSTITUTION:To both ends of a light-emitting tube 3 made of quartz, a couple of electric poles 1, 1' and an auxiliary pole 2 for starting up are enclosed. Inside the tube, iodides of Dy, Na, Tl and moreover, mercury, inactive argon gas are also enclosed. To both ends of the tube, power supplying wires to elec tric poles 1, 1' and the auxiliary pole 2 for starting up are connected. A thermal switch 4, for instance, connects the auxiliary pole 2 for starting up to the pole 1 so as to eliminate potential difference therebetween while the light-emitting tube 3 is lighting. A starting up unit consisting of a thermal switch 6 and a fixed resistance 7 is installed between power-supplying wires 5, 5' connected to both electric poles 1, 1'. Here, the surface of the light-emitting tube 3, are applied with a conductive thin film 8 made of (Sn-O), and multilayers films 9 made of TiO2 and SiO2 protecting the former conductive film and reflecting heat rays. With this constitution, starting-up characteristic is improved, and moreover, the fraction of light shut off at the conventional lamp by a heat insulator film is also effectively utilized. |
