An aluminium frame is provided as a supporting and stabilising part for a drilling or percussion hammer. The aluminium frame is arranged in the front part of the plastic housing and supports all parts for the drive of the hammer mechanism. It comprises a cylinder base with a front tubular part whose inner cylindrical surface is directly coated according to the hard-coating method while dispensing with separate sliding bushes and forms the sliding surface for the reciprocating drive piston. At the same time, the bearing body for the eccentric drive is fastened to the cylinder base in precise allocation to the drive piston.
