The invention relates to image field stabilisation in optical instruments, in particular telescopes. The aim of the invention is to realise image field stabilisation without expensive additional components and external energy. The object is for tilting movements in the horizontal and vertical directions to be compensated independently of the relative position of the optical instrument. According to the invention, the deviation of the image centre produced by tilting is compensated by the effect of an optical system in such a way that the image centre according to the system remains unchanged.
