发明名称 Procédé et dispositif de soudage par friction
摘要
1,093,632. Welding by pressuse. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. March 5, 1965 [March 13, 1964; March 25, 1964 (2)], No. 9433/65. Heading B3R. In friction welding workpieces of dissimilar metal one of which produces more upset than the other, a collet is placed about the workpiece producing most upset. A workpiece 17 of copper is mounted in the jaws 16 of a chuck 14 fixed on the hollow rotatable shaft 15 and a workpiece 13 of aluminium is mounted in the jaws 12 of a non-rotatable fixed chuck 11. A collet 21 of copper, brass, steel, alloy steel &c. having an annular cut-out 22 is placed about the end of the aluminium workpiece and the copper workpiece is rotated and pressed against the aluminium workpieee to weld the workpieces. Upset from the aluminium workpiece enters the cut-out in the collet where it is physically limited and the collet acting as a heat sink reduces the temperature of the aluminium adjacent the weld face. Nickel alloy and zinconium alloy workpieces may be similarly welded and when tubular workpieces are welded an inner plug with an annular cut-out is provided inside the tube having the collet on its end. The collet and plug may be formed as integral parts of the workpiece holding chucks. A workpiece of zinconium alloy is welded to a stainless steel workpiece containing 1% boron in an apparatus comprising a non- rotary chuck (45) (Fig. 5, not shown) movable by hydraulic cylinders (42, 43) towards a rotary chuck (46) on a shaft (47) rotatable by a belt (60) from a shaft (51). The shaft (51) carries a braking device (55) and is connectable at each end through clutches (54) (58) to a motor (52) and flywheel (57) respectively. The steel workpiece (49) is held in chuck (45) and the zirconium alloy workpieee (50) is held in chuck (46) and the workpiece (50) is rotated by disengaging the clutch adjacent the flywheel, engaging the other clutch and starting the motor. The zirconium alloy workpiece is then forced against the steel workpiece and the clutch is disengaged and brake applied and forging pressure applied. The zirconium alloy workpiece is surrounded by a retaining collar to limit and contain the upset. The workpieces may be inertia welded by engaging both clutches, rotating the chuck and flywheel and drawing the workpieces together.
