The device has at least one evaporator through which refrigerant flows, a delivery device for delivering, from above onto the evaporator, a stream of water conveyed by a water-conveying device, a water drain device which has a trickling trough arranged above the evaporator and having several delivery openings arranged above the evaporator so as to act uniformly on the evaporator. The evaporator consists of a number of vertical evaporator plates which have distribution means for the uniform distribution of the internal refrigerant stream and of the external water film, and a selectively actuatable trickling trough cleaning device is provided for the delivery openings of the trickling trough. |
