PURPOSE:To enhance storage stability of an image by forming an iodine ion capturing layer between a support and the image receiving layer of an image receiving element having at least a silver depositing layer on a support. CONSTITUTION:The photographic elements of the silver salt diffusion transfer process are composed of a photosensitive element having at least a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer contg. silver iodide and the image receiving element having as the image receiving layer at least a silver depositing layer on a support, and further, the iodine ion capturing layer is formed between the image receiving layer and the support. Silver iodide contained in silver halide in an amt. of 0.5-15mol% is used. Since iodine ions remaining near a silver image accelerates discoloration and fading of the image more than expected, these ions are captured and made harmless with said capturing layer. The optimum amt. of capturing agent to be coated is dependent on the amt. of iodine ions coated in the photosensitive element, but it is added generally, in an amt. of 0.3-10g/m<2>, preferably, 0.5-4.0g/m<2>, thus permitting a cationic polymer electrolyte contg. no iodine counter ion to have superior image stabilization action.
