In the case of a line which is laid in the ground, especially a pipeline, consisting of a large number of line sections which are provided at the works with a sheath and are subsequently sheathed, in the region of the connecting points, especially welded points, on site with re-sheathing materials which are fitted in layers one above the other, a basic layer initially being fitted onto the connecting point and at least one protective layer being fitted thereon, it is provided in order to decouple the line and the earth that a separating layer (6) be fitted between the basic layer (5) and the protective layer (8), in such a manner that a low-friction sliding plane (9) is constructed at least between the outer surface of the separating layer and the inside of the protective layer, and that the protective layer (8) be constructed in a structured manner (7) on its outside, in order to anchor the protective layer in the earth, and is smooth on its inside. <IMAGE>
