The seal for the join (2) between two concrete elements (1) of a bridge or road surface (8) or the like comprises a sectional strip (3) of flexible water-impermeable material, pref. synthetic rubber such as polychloroprene, of which the longitudinal edges are secured in sectional metal strips (4). These strips (4) are anchored in epoxy-based, possibly flexible (and reinforced) mortar (7) via anchoring rods (5) extending at right angles to the join, all as in the main patent. The anchoring strips (4) consist of aluminium or an aluminium alloy whilst the rods are (headed 6) screw bolts (5) screwed in there.
