PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion resistance of a magnetic layer and a back layer and the mechanical strength of a nonmagnetic supporting body by coating a magnetic coating liq. having a binder consisting essentially of magnetic powder and an electron beam-curing resin on one surface of the nonmagnetic supporting body and a back layer soln. consisting essentially of an electron beam-curing resin on the other surface, and irradiating an electron beam. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating liq. 1 having kneaded magnetic powder and a binder consisting essentially of an electron beam-curing resin and a back layer soln. 2 having a binder consisting essentially of an electron beam-curing resin and a filler are coated in an inert gas 3 atmosphere respectively on each surface of a nonmagnetic supporting body 4 in the form of a tape obtained by drawing biaxially a polyester resin incorporated with a compd. having an electron beam functional unsaturated bond. Then the magnetic field is oriented in the vertical direction by using an orienting magnet 5, the desired quantity of an electron beam (e) is irradiated immediately by an electron beam accelerator 6 from the image plane coated with the back layer soln. 2, hence the nonmagnetic supporting body 4 is simultaneously bridged or the magnetic coated film 1 and the back layer soln. 2 are cured, and a magnetic recording medium 7 with the magnetic layer 71 and the back layer 72 formed on the nonmagnetic supporting body 4 is obtained.
