PURPOSE:To permit the setting of conditions for producing an amorphous ribbon over a wider range by bringing the outside peripheral surface of an inside roller having a small diameter into contact with the inside peripheral surface of an outside roller having a large diameter, ejecting a material melt into between the contact surfaces and cooling ultraquickly the melt. CONSTITUTION:The outside peripheral surface 14 of the inside roller 13 having the small diameter is brought into contact with the inside peripheral surface 12 of the outside roller 11 having the large diameter. The contact pressure P of the contact surfaces of the rollers is so determined that the Hertz contact width of the inside and outside rollers is made adequate. A nozzle 15 is installed near the contact surfaces and the melt for forming the amorphous material ejected therefrom is quickly cooled by the heat conduction from the inside and outside roller 11, 13 side during the passage between the co-rotating contact surfaces. The amorphous ribbon 2 produced continuously in the above-mentioned manner is hooked to the bar inserted into the space between the outside roller 11 and the inside roller 13 and is thereby taken out diagonally across the tangential direction of the roller 13. |
