PURPOSE:To shorten a waiting time by performing reading operation from the sector following a sector which corresponds to a head firstly to the final sector at the end of the movement of the head, e.g. from the 1st sector to the sector which corresponds to the head after reading operation. CONSTITUTION:When target address data is denoted as (x) (1<=x<=n), target address data (x+1) is inputted from the inside of a disk controller 18 to a sector address comparison part 6 and when this coincides with address data from a disk 14, the disk 14 begins to be read or written at the point of time. Namely, the disk begins to be read or written actually at a sector (x+1) when 1<=x<n or the 1st sector when x=n. Target address data (n) is inputted to the address comparison part 16 to perform reading or writing operation from the sector (x+1) to the sector (n) successively and then perform the reading or writing operation from the 1st sector to the sector (x), and consequently the reading or writing operation time is unchanged, but the waiting time up before the operation is shortened.
