PURPOSE:To obtain excellent moisture-proofness by providing protective layers consisting of a compd. curable by radiation formed by curing the coated film thereof by UV rays on the surface of a thin magnetic film and the rear of a substrate. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate layer 21 is provided on the substrate 11 made of a resin and further a thin amorphous vertical magnetic film layer 31 consisting of a rare earth-transition metal is provided thereon. The protective layers 411, 413 are provided on the surface of said layer and the surface of the substrate 11 on which the layer 21 is not formed. The protective layer 415 is provided on the end face of the substrate 11 and the exposed end face of the layer 31, etc. as well. The film 31, the layer 21 and the substrate 11 are preferably sealed over the entire surface. The layers 411, 413, 415 consist of the compd. curable by radiation formed by curing the coated film thereof by the UV rays. The layers 411, 413, 415 are effective to prevent the oxidation deterioration of the layer 31 in a high humidity atmosphere and the photomagnetic recording medium deteriorates less with lapse of time even after the long-term use in the high-temp. and high-moisture atmosphere.
