PURPOSE:To clean effectively the lining of a tundish by melting the slag, molten steel or deteriorated layer sticking to the lining by the flame of a scarfing burner and removing the molten layer by machining or spraying with secondary gaseous fluid. CONSTITUTION:The tundish 1 is rolled over by an inclining base 2 and the remaining molten steel and slag are discharged hot. The flame temp. of a burner 4 for scarfing installed to a cleaning device 3 is adjusted to the m. p. of the deposit on the lining of the tundish 1 or above and to the m. p. of the lining or below to melt the slag, base metal and deteriorated layer sticking and solidifying on the bottom and side wall of the tundish. The secondary gaseous fluid is then injected from a burner 5 for spraying toward the direction of a discharge slag receiver 6 so that the molten deposit mentioned above is sprayed and stripped from the lining surface. For example, gaseous N2, gaseous O2, etc. are used for the inert gas of the secondary gaseous fluid. |
