PURPOSE:To suppress variations of the tube current and tube voltage by installing two filaments in such a manner as to position their coil axes parallel to each other and then connecting a glow lamp in between facing terminals of the filaments and connecting a power supply in between the other terminals. CONSTITUTION:A fluorescent lamp is assembled by installing two filaments 2 and 3 in a glass tube 1 in such a manner as to position the coil axes of the filaments 2 parallel to each other in the axial direction. The lamp is ignited by connecting a glow lamp 4 in between adjacent terminals 2a and 3a of the filaments 2 and 3 and connecting a power supply 5 in between the remaining terminals 2b and 3b. Because of the above structure, a spot is produced near the terminals 2b and 3b during the initial stage of electric discharge and a discharge current starts to flow from this spot. Consequently, successive reductions of the tube current and successive increases of the tube voltage are suppressed, thereby preventing flickering of the glow lamp 4. |
