The invention relates to the production of cables. The stranding machine which is the subject of the invention is of the type comprising, mounted successively on the base, a rotor 3 carrying the elements 1 of the cable to be obtained, a mandrel 2 connected rigidly to the rotor 3 and having profiled indentations 4 receiving said elements, and press rollers 6 mounted in a cage 5, in such a way that their axes are arranged in planes passing through the axis of rotation of the rotor 3, and is characterised in that the cage 5 and the mandrel 2 are arranged concentrically to one another and, in combination with the rotor 3, are mounted with the possibility of relative rotation. The invention makes it possible, in particular, to produce the cables from elements of different profiles and to obtain a reduction in energy consumption. <IMAGE>
