HETEROCYCLIC SULPHONAMIDE DERIVATIVES

Sulfonylurea derivatives of formula wherein L is a substituted homo- or heterocyclic aromatic group; W3 is O or S; R is H or CH3; A is a mono- or bicyclic heterocyclic group, e.g. pyrimidinyl or triazinyl; and their agriculturally suitable salts, exhibit potent herbicidal activity. Many also show a plant growth regulant effect. The novel compounds may be made e.g. by reacting an appropriate aromatic sulfonylisocyanate or isothiocyanate LSO2NCW3 with the appropriate aminoheterocycle RNHA.
