PURPOSE:To depress an optical attenuation factor and to extend the arrival distance of a signal light and to raise a usable temp. by using a silicone resin or a fluorine resin as a clad, and by using a specific syndiotactic polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) as a core. CONSTITUTION:The titled fiber comprises the silicone resin or the fluororesin as the clad 2 and PMMA contg. >=80% syndiotacticity as the core 1. A polymer is obtd. by polymerizing a freshly distillated monomer by an UV radiation, the core 1 is formed by softening the obtd. polymer under heating, the clad 2 composed of the silicone resin or the fluororesin on the core 1 is provided on the clod 1, and the coating 3 of a colored PE, etc. is provided on the clad 2. As the high purity PMMA has a high glass transition point, the usable temp. of the obtd. fiber is higher than that of a conventional fiber by about 100 deg.C. And since the optical attenuation factor of the titled fiber is low, and is 0.1dB/m, the arrival distance of the signal light may be extended. |
