PURPOSE:To prevent the lowering in the quality of a paint film by suppressing the excessive rising in the temp. within a drying and baking oven, by providing a means for adjusting the amount of air and a dilution means by the open air on the way of the pipeline for guiding heated clean air to the drying and baking oven. CONSTITUTION:When necessary quantity of heat in a drying and baking oven 1 is reduced by the reduction in a paint coating amount from such a steady state that a treating material 3 such as a metal strip is sent into said oven 1 under a definite condition and the quantity of heat of heated clean air from a heat exchanger 9 becomes excessive, the rising in the temps. of the zones 1A-1N in the oven 1 is detected by temp. sensors 24A-24N. Whereupon a signal for controlling dampers 21A-21N as heated clean air introducing amount control means to a throttling direction is outputted from a temp. indication control apparatus 25 and, at the same time, a signal for opening dampers 23A&n23N as dilution means is outputted. As a result, the temp. of hot air sent into the oven by recirculation blowers 13A-13N is lowered.
