Device for an electrostatic filter where there is a filter unit comprising in part a charging section with threads (40) and plates (39) that are parallel with one another and arranged in such a way that there is one or more threads (40) between each pair of plates (39) and in part a partitioning section with plates (34, 35) that are parallel to one another and arranged in such a way that each plate (34, 35) has a different electrical potential than adjacent plates. The filter unit includes at least two groups of plates (34, 35). The plates of each group are to be connected (28, 29) to a voltage level specific to the group. The power supply unit, which is to be connected to an external power source, must be able to supply the filter unit with at least two voltage levels. The filter unit comprises a separate filter cassette to be inserted in and removed from a housing or holder. A connector (28, 29) for each group of plates (34, 35)must be situated in connection with the housing or holder.The invention is especially characterized in that the named connectors (28, 29) contain a tube-shaped sheathing (28, 29) with a standard type of insulating material, such as plastic. One end of the sheathing (30) contains a groove (31, 33) with a V-shaped outer section (31) followed by a second section (33) with parallel walls at the bottom of the first section (32). A connector is connected to one of the voltage levels from the named unit, is arranged in the sheathing (28, 29) by means of a coil spring or the like and extends out into the groove (31, 33). The edge of a plate (34, 35) belonging to a group in the partition section is to be introduced by inserting the filter cassette in the housing or the like. The connector then lies spring-loaded against the named edge and the plates of the group are energized. All plates of the group are electrically connected following a standard method. Each sheathing (28, 29) has an outer diameter or the like adapted to correspond to the distance between adjacent plates and the plate to be inserted in the groove (31, 33). The sheathing (28, 29) constitutes the spacer and insulation between the plates (34, 35) inserted in the sheathing (28, 29) groove (31, 33) and adjacent plates (34, 35) as well as insulation between the connector and the adjacent plates (34, 35).
