The subject of the invention is a circular handsaw with a device for reducing the rotational speed of the drive motor when idling. The object of the invention is to achieve a functionally reliable reduction in the idling speed as well as end the reduction in rotational speed of the drive motor of a circular handsaw in the least complicated manner. This object is achieved according to the invention in that the circular handsaw is equipped with a switch (4, 4') which effects a reduction in the rotational speed when the saw is not operating (idling) and ends the reduction in the rotational speed and switches the drive motor to full load when the switch is actuated directly or indirectly by the workpiece (6) to be machined. <IMAGE>
