PURPOSE:To improve the extinction ratio by leaving a core part and forming a light shielding object in a clad part, on the end face of an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A photoresist 13 is stuck to the end face of an optical fiber 10, and subsequently, a core mode light 14 is propagated from the other end of the optical fiber, only a core 11 part is exposed, and thereafter, developed, and a resist pattern 15 is formed. Subsequently, a light shielding object 16 is formed on the whole surface of the end face of the optical fiber by means of a vapor-deposition, etc. of a metal. In the end, the photoresist pattern 15 is dissolved by a solvent, removed together with the light shielding object on said pattern, and the light shielding object 16 is left on only a clad part 12. |
