PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer recorder in which a carrier is neither broken nor deformed and can be easily positioned, by a construction wherein a platen roller with a high coefficient of friction is provided, and a carrier and a recording medium are disposed between a thermal head and the platen roller. CONSTITUTION:The width of the carrier is set to be smaller than that of a recording medium so that the recording medium does not make direct contact with the carrier, whereby a carrier made mainly of a polyester suitable for obtaining high image quality can be fed. Even in the case where feeding for positioning of an extremely thin transfer material with low mechanical strength is impossible because of the high coefficient of friction between a transfer film 1 and a rubber roller 3, protruding of the leading end of the film 1 can be performed under a low coefficient of friction between the film 1 and a recording paper 6, by determining the sizes of the film 1 and the paper 6 so that the film 1 does not make direct contact with the rubber roller 3. Accordingly, defective feeding due to rupture of the extremely thin transfer film 1 or the like does not occur. |
