PURPOSE:To attain high-quality printing by obtaining print pulse information based on black ratio information corresponding to a voltage drop and peripheral picture signal information corresponding to heat storage state. CONSTITUTION:A count means 11 counts the number of picture signals corresponding to black dots of print data 16 and outputs it as the black ratio information 17 as it is. On the other hand, present/preceding/pre-preceding print data are stored respectively in memories 21-23 in a storage means 12. In obtaining print pulse information of a noted picture signal, a picture signal B01 of the present print data 21, and picture signals B11, B21 of the preceding and pre- preceding print data 22, 23 are inputted to a parallel register 30 and shifted right, then all peripheral picture signals are inputted to a memory 31 to output peripheral picture signal information 32. In inputting the black ratio information 17 and the peripheral picture signal information 32 to a memory element 33, a correction taking a voltage drop into consideration on the calculated pulse width is applied, print pulse information 35 is outputted and stored in a memory element 34.
