<p>A thermal transfer printer in which the major scanning is carried out by a thermal head (56) and the minor scanning is carried out by the intermittent rotation of the platen (14), via a timing belt (18), by means of a drive motor (54). The thermal head (56) is arranged to have the lower running portion of the timing belt (18) as the tension side of the belt, and the angle between the straight line which passes through the axis center of the timing pulley (16) on the platen side and the starting point on the tension side of the wound portion of the timing belt and the second straight line which passes through the axis center of the platen (14) and the center of the thermal head (56), is chosen to be less than 60°. This leads to reduction of vibration and noise.</p> |
