Hydraulic brake control unit for motor vehicles with modulator, which by way of an oil line is directly connected to the brake master cylinder and to the brake cylinders of the individual brake shoes and prevents locking of the wheels once the basic brake oil pressure is exceeded. The modulator comprises an oscillating piston operatable by way of a control member, which piston is so designed that maximum pressure is produced on the brake cylinders just before its one extreme position, a pressure balance in the oil line in the actual limit position and, on its displacement into the other extreme position, a sealing off of the oil line and a reduction of the pressure to the bare holding pressure of the brake shoes.
